Balham's New Cupcake and Beauty Treatment - is it a Winner?

We headed to the multi award winning Balham salon and spa, Independent Mind Body Soul,  to test out their newest offering – Tea & Therapy. The bespoke treatment consists of a full facial and massage using only their signature Aveda products followed by tea and homemade cupcakes.

Cupcakes and beauty therapies are usually only enjoyed in isolation of each other so when we heard both could be enjoyed together at our local urban spa our attention was well and truly grabbed! Their treatment is an indulgent 1hr and 45 minutes and is tailored to your needs making sure you get the most out of both your facial and your massage to leave you feeling at your very best when you set foot back out onto Balham High Road.

Our therapist for the duration was Elisha, the spa’s Beauty & Training Manager, and she whisked us downstairs into the tranquil spa area to get changed into our robe and flip flops – the area is calm and comfortable with four luxurious velvet chaise longues on which to recline before and after your treatment. Once in the treatment room we had a brief consultation used to check for any sensitivities and injuries and also to determine how you’d like the time to be distributed – we opted for a more thorough facial due to an upcoming event, so what did we think?

The treatment is everything you might expect and more – ultra soothing and aromatic we were amazed at how easily we could let go of the stresses of the outside world. The massage revived tired muscles and rolled out tense knots focusing mainly on the back and shoulders on our request however no area was left untreated – neck, legs, arms, feet and palms were all seen to. Now fully relaxed we moved onto the facial and oh my! What a pleasurable experience this was.

The facial saw us leave with a brighter complexion, tighter skin and most definitely more definition and this is down to not only the superb-quality natural Aveda products and hot towels but also the massage element of the facial which encourages blood flow and increases muscle tone.

Having never experienced a facial before we were initially a bit unsure as to how to whether we’d see and feel any results but trust us it works – we usually daren’t walk out of the house with anything less than foundation and mascara however after our facial we looked so revived, fresh-faced and the compliments from friends came thick and fast!

The treatment was rounded off with the chance to relax with a tea of our choice and a beautiful selection of homemade cakes to choose from – this really is indulgence of the best kind and we were very welcome of the chance to adjust back to the idea of the real world whilst reclining in the relaxation area.

We quite literally left on air and completely revived! The effect that Tea & Therapy had on our mood, our complexion and our overall energy was nothing short of magical – we have no doubt we’ll be returning to the healing hands of the IMBS spa very soon.

IMBS Tea & Therapy Treatment lasts 1hr45mins and costs £110 – mention Balham Daily PRSS at the time of booking to receive £10 OFF any subsequent treatment!
